How to Choose a Family Plan
|
With
the introduction of cell phones, the whole world has not only shrunk,
but it has shrunk into your own hands. Now with a break-neck pace
advancement in technology anyone can access anything they want and
anywhere! But all these facilities cost not only to the user but even
the network operators who provide these services. Carriers offer
various cell phone plans to an assortment of people to answer
everyone’s needs. But the secret lies in cell
phone plan comparison
to choose the one that really suits your needs.
Among
the different cell phone plans available, family plans are the most
popular that have their own set of advantages. Carriers offer family
plans with multiple cheap phones included in the plan. Apart from
this you also get certain amount of unlimited calling hours between
members of the family. These family plans vary from one service
provider to another.
However
while choosing a family plan one has to read the details carefully
and make sure that there aren’t any hidden charges which may later
pop up in your bill! Sometimes carriers do offer attractive rates on
weekends and some may provide even cheap night talk time rates. Also
do check on iPhone
plans
if you own iPhones
as well. So, it’s always advisable to go through different offers
and chose the best cell phone plan that suits you and your family.

Why isn't Text Messaging included in Most Data Plans?
|
We
often complain about price hikes in grocery products or even gas.
But, have we ever sat back and thought about the silent price hike in
text messages and cell
phone plans?
Service providers have been tricking customers into their trap wisely
and unknowingly, charging much more than what it costs them to
transmit the data included in text messages. Earlier a message which
cost 10 cents has now nearly multiplied and a customer has to pay
twice the amount of what he was paying earlier, say 20 cents!
It
was all started by Sprint Nextel in the year 2007, which was later
followed by AT&T and Verizon Wireless. And recently, much to the
grievance of customers, T-Mobile has announced its text messaging
hike plans, charging 20 cents per message, thus making a late entry
into the grand league of network operators present in USA.
Even
though it doesn’t cost much in terms of delivering the text message
for a service provider, compared to other services offered by him
like music downloads etc; the reason that carriers are charging so
much for text messages is because of the growing popularity of
texting. Even at 20cents/message people are willing to pay without
any hiccups! Apart from this, customers even go for text messaging
packages and unlimited plans that vary in price from $5 a month extra
for 200 messages to $20 a month extra for unlimited texting on AT&T's
network, for example.
So,
it is often wise to compare
cell phone plans
and choose the right one that suits your needs.

Now an iPhone bug fixer from Apple
|
Apple's
much awaited September 9 'Lets Rock' event let down the expectations
of iPod lovers a bit with the kind of updates announced for the new
iPod. But the iPhone freaks were in for a surprise as Apple announced
a new 2.1 software update that fixes bugs that provides far better
battery life, fewer call drops, crashing problems, higher speed for
iTunes and various others. The update is free and will be available
from Friday, September 12th.
The
new iPhone 3G launched by Apple early this year and iPhone
plans
provided by AT&T have met with many positive reviews. There were
however few complaints of data connections, dropped calls, and
overall sluggishness. In response, Apple rolled out the iPhone 2.1
update and said that this will fix many bugs as well as add features.
Some users found that programs downloaded from the App Store would
cause the handset to crash. That issue has been addressed, as Apple
said the firmware will make installing applications quicker and more
reliable. The update is expected to improve the accuracy of the 3G
signal strength display, as well as decrease the number of dropped
calls. So you don’t have to complain about your iPhone
plan
or service provider, the next time you have a dropped call or low
signal strength.

When to gift your child a cell phone
|
This
is a topic causing a lot of debate in homes in America. When is the
right time to gift your children a cell phone. When will they be
mature enough to handle it? After September 11, many parents feel
that their children will be safer carrying a cell phone. In fact
there are many cell
phone plans that
you can choose specially for your children. Like the prepaid phone
plan that start from as low as $50 and limit the amount of calls and
texts made.
Cell
phone service providers have started launching special cell phone
plans for children. Like T-Mobile's family allowance plan that lets
you set limits for minutes, messages and downloads on your child's
phone. You can also keep track of your child's location by simply
logging on to a computer, using Sprint's Family Locator plan or
Verizon's Chaperone plan. Cell phones are also a huge distraction
during school hours. So you can compare
cell phone plans of
various service providers and ask them about your ability to shut
down phone service for certain hours or keep track of the actual
numbers that your child talks to over the phone.

Security Threat from the New iPhone
|
While blogosphere is full of debates and discussions on what the users liked and disliked in the new iPhone 3G, British security agencies are worried about the possible security threat that the iPhones may pose. Criminals can use devices like the iPhone 3G to remotely destroy incriminating evidence says the U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office Digital Forensics unit.
Since the iPhone 3G is a new gadget, it is difficult to track the device. Just like the Blackberry, the iPhone 3G may also be used to carry out remote deletion according to the Digital Forensics unit. The unit has already begun measures to make sure that the remote deletion feature is not being exploited

The Case of the Mysterious iPhone girl
|
Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon then. In the case of the now popular new girl, it is the third condition.? After a British buyer of the new iPhone posted three pictures of the girl in a website stating that those came as default pictures with his new iPhone. The pictures are believed to be sample photos shot at the Chinese factory of Foxconn, which manufactures the iPhones for Apple. The message sparked off a spate of discussions that saw participation from all corners of the globe.
The debates ranged from the age of the girl, who appeared too young to work, reinforcing the idea of Chinese sweatshops to whether the girl was fired for the goofup that happened, to rating the girl?s cuteness quotient. Foxconn jumped to clarify that it was a ?beautiful mistake? (don?t know what that means) and also that the girl will not be fired for what happened. Last heard, the girl was pleading for some privacy.
